Digital Coffee Future (DCF) is a company specialized in supporting the integration of digital solutions and digital processes into the coffee value chain, focusing on bridging the gap between the available technology and its effective adoption by SMEs and their allied organizations. We do this by providing research services, strategic advice, and learning opportunities. We also make information on digitalization accessible by sharing specialized knowledge through our online DCF Magazine and our industry reports.
-
According to the Garner Glossary, digitalization is “the use of digital technologies to change a business model and provide new revenue and value-producing opportunities; it is the process of moving to a digital business.”
At DCF, we define digitalization or digital transformation as the integration of digital technologies to reduce the amount of manual processes and improve efficiency and productivity. Digitalization can support the automation of processes especially when it comes to data collection, storage and sharing. Essentially, it means to move away from using pen and paper, phone calls and emails to collect data and instead use digital tools to input that information and process it.
-
While digitalization and digital transformation leverage digital technologies to improve processes and enhance efficiency, digitization is a narrower concept that serves as the first step towards digitalization. It is the conversion of paper-based processes into digital formats. This, however, is only useful if there is a digitalization strategy behind it – if this digitized information is then processed and used in a way that supports the business by enhancing efficiency and supporting its competitiveness and sustainability.
-
Absolutely! While we do not develop technologies ourselves, we have extensive knowledge on EUDR requirements and the tools and processes that can support compliance. We do this through providing education programs and strategic advisory services.
Our learning opportunities include live virtual courses that focus on data collection - including geolocation data - processing, and visualization for SMEs in coffee-producing regions as well as for other industry actors. These programs are conducted in small cohorts and offer personalized guidance, enabling participants to strategically choose the tools that better suit their needs and context.
Our advisory services allow companies and organizations to better understand their needs and internal processes, and support decision-making related to their digitalization journey. We offer consulting packages and unstructured tailor-made plans, allowing us to adapt to each need in the most suitable way.
-
No. We work with all kinds of companies, businesses and organizations in the coffee industry, regardless of their size and their role in the value chain. The digitalization process can look different for each coffee stakeholder, and we make sure our strategic advice is tailored to the needs of each of our partners.
We have worked with big and small cooperatives and producer organizations, certification bodies, foundations, and traders in different coffee regions. Through a co-creation process and a thorough analysis of their unique context, we provide strategic advice that supports each of our partner’s long-term sustainability. At DCF, no two digitalization processes are the same.
-
Never. At DCF we pride ourselves in being agnostic when it comes to technology recommendations. We guarantee unbiased strategic advice services and course content.
The only place where you’ll see sponsored content is in our DCF Magazine. The articles that are written by our partners will be clearly labeled as such, and we will make sure they add value by fitting into an overarching topic that’s current and relevant to our readers. The articles that include digital tool roundups are 100% based on our own research and knowledge – the solutions featured have been selected independently by our editorial team and contributors.
